Sarawak Ready To Help Build ‘Missing Link’ In SSLR Project

KUCHING — The Sarawak Government has pledged to assist the Federal Government in completing the “missing link” along the Sabah-Sarawak Link Road (SSLR) to ensure the project is fully realised.
Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Abdul Rahman Zohari Tun Datuk Abang Openg said this reflects the strong cooperation between both governments to ensure the SSLR project benefits the people in northern Sarawak as well as Sabah.
“I have informed Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim that there is a slight ‘missing link’ along the alignment of the road.
“But I assure you, do not worry, as Sarawak will work together with the Federal Government to build the road,” he said during a dinner with the local community, also attended by the Prime Minister, at a leading hotel here on Thursday.
The Premier added that the initiative is not only about connecting roads but also about strengthening the bonds among Malaysians.
In conjunction with Malaysia Day this September, he called on the people to reinforce the spirit of togetherness as the foundation for Malaysia to continue moving forward.
He also assured that Sarawak remains committed to finding solutions to any issues with the Federal Government in the spirit of Malaysian solidarity.
He acknowledged that differences may arise when “living under one roof” but stressed that such matters must be resolved harmoniously.
“In Sarawak, as part of the Federation, people say even the tongue sometimes gets bitten. Surely, there will be differences or disputes.
“However, all of this can be resolved in the spirit of the Malaysian Family, because if Sarawak is strong, Malaysia will become even greater,” he emphasised.
Also present were Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof, Sarawak Deputy Premiers Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas, Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan and Datuk Amar Professor Dr. Sim Kui Hian, Federal and Sarawak Ministers, Sarawak Secretary Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki, Deputy Ministers, department heads and other distinguished guests.
