“Hong Kong Art Toy Story 2025@Kuala Lumpur” Makes a Triumphant Premiere at TRX The Exchange
KUALA LUMPUR, November 8, 2025 — Malaysia’s creative scene reached an exciting milestone with the successful opening of “Hong Kong Art Toy Story 2025@Kuala Lumpur”, a landmark event marking the first large-scale showcase of Hong Kong’s original art toy creations in the country. Officially launched at TRX The Exchange, the exhibition has already drawn enthusiastic crowds and high praise from the public and media alike.
Organized by the Innovative Entrepreneur Association (IEA) and sponsored by the Cultural and Creative Industries Development Agency (CCIDA) of the Hong Kong SAR Government, the exhibition celebrates Hong Kong’s global influence in the art toy world. It presents more than 450 original art toy masterpieces designed by 12 prominent Hong Kong creators, spanning multiple generations of imagination, craftsmanship, and design innovation.
A Grand Opening That Celebrated Art and Collaboration
The opening ceremony took place in a festive and creative atmosphere, officiated by Ms. Christine Chie, Head (Architecture, Printing & Publishing and Promotion) of CCIDA; Miss Libera Cheng, Director-General of the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office in Jakarta; Ms. Cherrie Chong, President of IEA; and Mr. Johnson Chiang, Curator of the exhibition.
They were joined by the featured designers — b.wing, Bee Wong, Foon Wong, Winson Ma, Felix Ip, Jeffery Yau, Leo Pak, Nicolas Lesaffre, Steven Choi, and Tony Leung — who unveiled their works to an eager Malaysian audience. The ceremony attracted art lovers, collectors, and industry leaders, setting a vibrant tone for what has quickly become one of Kuala Lumpur’s most talked-about cultural events of the year.
A Showcase of Creativity, Heritage, and Innovation
Running from November 7 to 16, 2025, the exhibition takes visitors on an immersive journey through Hong Kong’s art toy evolution — from its early pioneers to today’s new wave of designers who have redefined the genre worldwide.
A major highlight is the debut of six cross-sectoral art toys inspired by Hong Kong’s intangible cultural heritage. These pieces reimagine traditional elements such as Tai Chi Chuan, Herbal Tea, Aeroplane Olive, Seal Carving Technique, Blown Sugar Technique, and Piu Sik (Floating Colours) Making Technique, merging age-old craftsmanship with modern design and creativity.
Immersive Art Experiences for Every Visitor
Beyond its striking displays, the exhibition offers visitors an engaging, multi-sensory experience. AR interactive photo zones, life-size toy boxes, giant gashapon machines, and collector-grade figurines transform the venue into a world where technology and imagination meet.
Weekend sessions add another layer of excitement with artist meet-and-greets, live demonstrations, autograph sessions, and creative discussions, allowing fans to connect directly with the artists behind Hong Kong’s most recognizable art toys.
Strengthening Regional Creative Ties
“The positive response from Malaysian audiences has been truly inspiring,” said Ms. Cherrie Chong, President of IEA. “Since our first international showcase in Bangkok in 2022, the appreciation for Hong Kong’s art toy culture across ASEAN has continued to grow. Kuala Lumpur’s warm reception reinforces our shared passion for creativity and innovation.”
Curator Mr. Johnson Chiang added, “This exhibition highlights Hong Kong’s enduring influence as a global creative hub. From legendary pioneers to rising new talents, our designers continue to push artistic boundaries while connecting with audiences through imagination and storytelling.”
A Landmark Success for Hong Kong’s Creative Industry
Supported by CCIDA, the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office in Jakarta, and various cultural partners, “Hong Kong Art Toy Story 2025@Kuala Lumpur” has been celebrated as a major success. The exhibition not only honors Hong Kong’s creative achievements but also strengthens Malaysia’s position as a growing center for art, design, and cultural exchange in Southeast Asia.
As Malaysia’s first large-scale showcase of Hong Kong’s original art toys, this remarkable event embodies the spirit of creativity without borders — where culture, heritage, and innovation come together to inspire a new generation of art lovers.
