KUALA TERENGGANU, Nov 10 — The expansion of Terengganu’s halal sector has accelerated regional economic growth, with 316 companies certified by JAKIM under various business categories.
Dato’ Ariffin Deraman said the recognition covers food production, restaurants, consumer goods manufacturing and cosmetics — reflecting rising entrepreneurial awareness of halal standards.
Kuala Terengganu topped the list with 77 certified firms, followed by Kemaman (63) and Dungun (48).
He added that state–federal synergy, especially through JHEAT and YPU, is key to empowering micro and SME operators to expand beyond local markets and tap into Malaysia’s halal export potential.
