PLUS Malaysia Berhad (PLUS) and Korea Expressway Corporation (KEC) have signed an MoU aimed at enhancing smart mobility initiatives, developing future-ready highway technologies and strengthening sustainability efforts.
The MoU, inked during the ITS Asia Pacific Forum in Suwon, highlights the determination of both expressway operators to modernise operations and improve the travelling experience.
Datuk Nik Airina Nik Jaffar said the partnership will explore new technology including AI-driven cameras, upgraded road-surfacing methods and enhanced toll systems over a two-year period.
The collaboration also covers ITS development, sustainable infrastructure and workforce capability-building, aligned with the national objectives of Malaysia and South Korea to promote digitalisation and green mobility.
PLUS also acknowledged the recent MoU between the Malaysian Ministry of Works and South Korea’s MOLIT, which further strengthens bilateral cooperation in expressway innovation.
