PETALING JAYA – Efforts to support students from less privileged backgrounds continue to gain momentum as Yayasan PEKEMA sets its sights on assisting 10,000 students through its nationwide 2026 Back-to-School Programme.
Through this CSR initiative, selected students will receive essential school supplies to help ease financial strain while inspiring confidence and enthusiasm as they begin their academic year. The initiative reflects a long-standing commitment to social responsibility.
PEKEMA President Datuk Haji Mohamed Nazari Noordin said the programme reinforces the organisation’s ongoing role in giving back to society. With many households still grappling with living costs, he believes the assistance will help ensure students do not feel left behind.
He emphasised that education remains one of the most powerful tools in shaping future generations and supporting the nation’s development.
At the Zone 10 Selayang Municipal Council level, 500 students benefited through an event held at Dewan Sri Siantan, made possible through collaboration with the local community service centre and KRESMA. The programme was supported by government representatives, including state executive councillor Anfaal Saari.
Beyond its role in the automotive industry, PEKEMA continues to emphasise education and community care as part of its broader responsibility.
Zone 10 councillor Ahmad Zahiri Zahid Sofian highlighted that the joint effort symbolises effective collaboration between NGOs, local authorities and community stakeholders to ensure welfare initiatives reach targeted beneficiaries.
The initiative is expected to help inspire stronger educational drive among students while strengthening community solidarity.
