Telugu Association of Malaysia – Gombak Branch Celebrates Independence Month at Tugu Negara

Kuala Lumpur, 17 August 2025 – The Telugu Association of Malaysia (TAM) Gombak Branch proudly celebrated Independence Month with a patriotic gathering at Tugu Negara, Kuala Lumpur, attended by more than 150 participants comprising members, families, and well-wishers.

The celebration was graced by Dr. Vengkata Prathap, President of the Telugu Association of Malaysia, who in his keynote address emphasized the importance of unity and patriotism among Malaysians.

He highlighted that “every Malaysian, regardless of race, religion, or background, must uphold patriotism as the highest value to build a stronger, united, and progressive nation.” Dr. Prathap further stressed that in a multiracial society, patriotism must always come before race, religion, or colour.

In honouring Malaysia’s first Prime Minister, Tunku Abdul Rahman Putra Al-Haj, children presented heartfelt patriotic poems, symbolizing the spirit of gratitude and remembrance of Malaysia’s journey towards independence.

Also present at the event were Mr. Sathiah Sudakaran, Deputy President of TAM, Vice Presidents Ms. Veeraletchumy and Mr. Seetharao, along with Mr. Trimurthy, Chairman of TAM Gombak Branch, who led the organising efforts of the celebration. Their presence reflected the strong commitment of TAM leadership towards fostering national unity and instilling patriotic values among the community.

The Independence Month celebration at Tugu Negara not only strengthened the patriotic spirit among members but also reinforced TAM’s dedication to promoting harmony, unity, and love for Malaysia.
