SHAH ALAM — Selangor police have increased security measures for Pandan Member of Parliament, Datuk Seri Rafizi Ramli, and his family following the assault on his son in Putrajaya on Wednesday.
Selangor Police Chief, Datuk Shazeli Kahar, confirmed the heightened security but declined to provide further details.
“I cannot disclose more information due to concerns for their safety,” he said during a press conference at the Selangor Police Contingent Headquarters on Thursday.
In a press conference, the police chief revealed that a police report was lodged on August 13, regarding an incident in which a young boy was approached, physically touched, and poked with an unidentified device by an unknown individual at IOI City Mall, Putrajaya.
Following the incident, a formal investigation paper has been opened under Section 14(d) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017, Section 324, and Section 352 of the Penal Code.
The victim is currently reported to be in stable condition.
The investigation is being carried out comprehensively by the Selangor Contingent Police, with support from the Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department.
The probe will cover all angles, including identifying the motive behind the attack and the object used by the suspect, he said.
“As of now, the suspect remains unidentified, and further investigations are ongoing.
“Authorities have urged the public to refrain from making any speculation or assumptions that could lead to public unrest or provocation.”
