KUALA LUMPUR, August 18 — Marking 120 years of transformative community service, YMCA of Kuala Lumpur (YMCA KL) proudly announces its 120th Anniversary Carnival — a vibrant celebration of unity, diversity, and shared purpose.
Set for September 13 & 14 (9:00 AM – 6:00 PM) at the YMCA KL grounds in Brickfields, this landmark event aligns with Malaysia Day (September 16) under the resonant theme: “Bersatu Dengan Komuniti” (United with the Community).
More Than a Festival: A Legacy in Motion
This milestone carnival embodies YMCA KL’s enduring mission — bringing together families, partner organisations, and marginalised communities for a dynamic showcase of culture, compassion, and collective impact.
Attendees will experience:
- Immersive Exhibits highlighting YMCA KL’s outreach programmes (Deaf community support, Youth empowerment, Soup Kitchen initiatives, senior care, and more).
- Live Performances & Activities: Performances, children’s games, craft demonstrations, and presentations by NGOs, churches, and youth
- Local Flavours & Enterprise: Food stalls and artisan vendors featuring B40 entrepreneurs.
Anticipating over 1,000 attendees, the carnival transforms the YMCA grounds into a microcosm of Kuala Lumpur’s vibrant tapestry.
Voices of Unity
“This isn’t just an anniversary event; it’s a living testament to 120 years of service, unity, and unwavering hope,” declared Very Rev. Cor Episcopa Philip Thomas, President of YMCA of Kuala Lumpur.
“We’re creating a joyous space where our entire community can celebrate diversity and recommit to uplifting every life. The presence of our Deaf neighbours, youth, seniors, and marginalised friends powerfully reminds us why we serve. Truly, we are ‘Bersatu Dengan Komuniti’.”
Purpose-Driven Participation
The event welcomes:
- YMCA KL members, families, and programme beneficiaries — Deaf community, Youth, Soup Kitchen patrons, seniors.
- Key partners — Local churches, NGOs, educational institutions, martial arts groups, and performers.
- The General Public — All are invited to share in this celebration of inclusivity and resilience.
The carnival aims to amplify awareness of YMCA KL’s social impact, forge stronger partnerships with local organisations, and inspire new generations of volunteers and supporters.
YMCA KL invites Kuala Lumpur to be part of history.
Experience the energy, embrace the community, and help shape the next chapter of service!
