KENINGAU: Parti Warisan will form its own state government without joining any party if the party wins with just a simple majority. Its president, Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal, said the party remained consistent in its stance not to join any external party, including from the Peninsula.
According to him, this is to maintain the trust of the people of Sabah in the integrity of local politics.
“We (Warisan won) a simple majority, we will govern (the state government) ourselves. We need to continue this matter and be consistent (not merging)… it doesn’t mean that we don’t have enough (seats) and continue merging.
“How can the people of Sabah trust us? Today we said we don’t want to join, and then we joined with parties from the Peninsula,” he said.
He said this during the DSSA Inspiration Tour event at Kampung Skim Pemalan Tetiku, Keningau.
However, Shafie added that the coalition at the Federal level has no problems.
Instead, he claimed that in Sabah, it should be governed by local parties.
Apart from that, the Semporna Member of Parliament left everything to the voters and people of Sabah to evaluate and determine and then make a decision.
