KUALA LUMPUR: A total of 14 individuals were arrested in raids at six entertainment centres operating without valid entertainment licenses and exceeding the time limit, around the capital through Op Noda early this morning.
Kuala Lumpur Police Chief Datuk Fadil Marsus said that of the number arrested, six were local men who were working as counter attendants and five Thai women suspected of working as customer service representatives (GROs).
He said another man was a Bangladeshi and two women were Indonesian and all those arrested were aged between 22 and 45 years old.
“The premises were also found to not have a valid liquor license and to hire foreign workers without valid work permits,” he said in a statement here today.
During the operation, the police also seized various audio equipment, five bottles of various brands of liquor, five business receipts and cash totaling RM799.
The operation overall checked 146 individuals, including 129 visitors and 17 employees.
The case is being investigated under the Federal Territories Entertainment Act (AHWP) 1992, the Excise Act 1976, and the Immigration Act 1959/63.
