For the first time, ASEAN will take the global stage at COP30 as a united front — a milestone credited to Malaysia’s leadership as the region’s 2025 chair.
Deputy Minister Datuk Seri Huang Tiong Sii said Malaysia led the effort to establish the ASEAN Joint Statement on Climate Change, which outlines shared priorities on climate finance, adaptation, and loss and damage, representing a turning point for ASEAN’s environmental diplomacy.
“ASEAN now enters the climate arena not as individual nations, but as one regional voice committed to shared responsibility,” he said.
Malaysia’s COP30 Pavilion will be the epicentre of ASEAN’s sustainability engagement, featuring innovations, regional collaborations, and stories from across Southeast Asia.
Under the theme “Climate Action Now: Net Zero Pathways Unlocked,” the pavilion embodies Malaysia’s long-term commitment to climate resilience, supported by the National Climate Change Policy 2.0, LT-LEDS, and NETR.
“With these initiatives, Malaysia and ASEAN are setting the tone for collective action and sustainable transformation,” Huang said.
