Terengganu Steps Into a Greener Future Through Rare-Earth Innovation

KUALA TERENGGANU, Nov 10 — Terengganu is taking a decisive step toward building a sustainable economy with plans to open a Non-Radioactive Rare Earth Elements Research and Development Centre.

Mohd Nurkhuzaini Ab. Rahman, who oversees economic and green-technology affairs, said the centre will serve as the state’s innovation engine to advance eco-friendly mineral exploration and processing.

Through MBI Modal Sdn Bhd, the state is mapping granite resources and finalising partnerships with Lynas Malaysia to enhance processing technology. Federal collaboration with MIDA, MITI and NRES will further promote sustainable investment and research.

Officials believe this initiative will not only generate economic returns but also cement Terengganu’s status as a leader in Malaysia’s green mineral industry.
