NEW DELHI – A massive explosion near the Red Fort Metro Station that killed at least 12 people and injured several others has triggered panic across the Indian capital, prompting an all-out security operation by Delhi Police.
According to Press Trust of India (PTI), police and paramilitary forces have been stationed at all entry and exit points of Delhi, conducting large-scale vehicle inspections at Ghazipur, Singhu, Tikri, and Badarpur borders.
Senior officers are personally supervising the operation amid growing concerns over possible coordinated attacks.
In a parallel development, police detained a university lecturer from Mewat, Haryana, suspected of links to a “white-collar terrorist cell” operating out of Al Falah University in Faridabad.
Authorities uncovered over 2.5 tonnes of explosive materials, including industrial-grade chemicals, believed to be used in bomb-making.
