More Than Enforcement: JPJ Terengganu’s 2,201 Summons Reflect Broader Safety Concerns

KUALA NERUS — The issuance of 2,201 summonses in Ops Lebih Muatan highlights deeper concerns about road safety and commercial vehicle compliance in Terengganu.

According to JPJ Director Mohd Zamri Samion, the operation — which ran 16 hours daily — examined over 10,000 vehicles, uncovering a spectrum of offences that extend beyond overloading.

These included lane misuse, illegal overtaking and numerous technical violations that pose safety risks to road users.

A worrying trend identified during the operation is the movement of foreign vans from neighbouring countries, believed to be repeatedly breaking Malaysian laws. JPJ is working closely with the Immigration Department to trace these vehicles, some of which may be linked to cloned vehicle syndicates.

The East Coast Expressway remains the main route suspected to be used by these vehicles, particularly those travelling from Kelantan to Kuala Lumpur.
