JOHANNESBURG — Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has urged Sabahans to choose political parties based on their ability to govern effectively rather than being influenced by anti-Peninsular sentiment.
He warned that regional sentiment-based politics distract from real issues that have long affected Sabah.
“Those pushing such narratives are ignoring the real problems — governance failures, long-standing water supply issues, and leakage of state revenue,” he said during a media session aboard his flight to Johannesburg.
Anwar stressed that the origin of a party should not determine voter support; instead, voters should evaluate which party can provide competent public service and meaningful development.
Polling for the 17th Sabah state election will take place on November 29, with early voting on November 25.
