105 arrested in major anti-trafficking sweep across Selangor

KUALA LUMPUR — A coordinated police sweep in Sekinchan and Sabak Bernam led to the arrest of 105 people, including undocumented migrants and several individuals suspected of operating as smugglers or handlers.

Selangor Police Chief Datuk Shazeli Kahar said the first raid at a home in Jalan JPT uncovered four foreigners believed to be managing the premises, as well as 36 migrants lacking valid travel documents.

A second raid at the Sekinchan Jetty saw a 19-year-old foreign youth — identified as a land-based smuggler and driver — arrested along with five migrants found in a van.

Out at sea, Marine Police and MAPO Task Force officers intercepted an unregistered wooden boat carrying a foreign skipper, two assistants and 56 undocumented migrants, including women.

The operations also saw the seizure of phones and cash. Police say the arrests reflect ongoing efforts to dismantle trafficking networks operating in the state.
