Ceasefire Under Strain as Israel Launches New Attacks in Gaza

Israel was accused on Monday of breaching the ceasefire once again after its forces fatally shot a Palestinian man in northern Gaza and attacked several sites in the south.

According to medical sources, a quadcopter drone fired the shot that killed the man in the Zeitoun district.

Witnesses also reported artillery barrages in eastern Rafah and heavy helicopter gunfire over eastern Khan Younis.

Gaza’s Government Media Office says 357 Palestinians have been killed and 903 injured since the ceasefire began on October 10, highlighting the fragility of the agreement.

The ceasefire, backed by the US and negotiated by Türkiye, Egypt and Qatar, temporarily halted Israel’s deadly two-year campaign that has taken more than 70,000 lives.

The deal’s first stage outlines prisoner swaps and long-term plans for reconstruction and governance reforms in Gaza without Hamas.
