Malaysia outclassed by South Africa despite strong build-up play

Malaysia’s juniors fell 3–1 to South Africa in a match that saw the team dominate stretches of play but fall short where it mattered most — in front of goal.

Coach Nor Saiful Zaini Nasiruddin was visibly disappointed, saying the team’s inability to finish was becoming a recurring problem.

“We get into their circle, we move the ball well, but the moment to score just slips away. Even against England it was the same story,” he said.

He stressed that the team’s failure extended beyond the forward line, noting that all departments struggled to convert chances or win penalty corners.

South Africa punished Malaysia through two strikes by Jaydon Brooker and a third from Ross Montgomery. Aqil Danial netted Malaysia’s consolation goal.
