KLANG — The Klang Royal City Council has developed a new flood-prevention plan focusing on sustainable urban development, integrated waste management and enhanced development enforcement.
Mayor Datuk Abd Hamid Hussain said the strategy will guide future flood-mitigation projects, including drainage upgrades, retention ponds, pump installations and riverbank clean-ups under the “Love Klang River” programme.
The plan also incorporates hotspot mapping and recommendations from agencies such as JPS, LUAS, MetMalaysia and JKR. Klang has experienced repeated floods in areas like Meru, Bukit Kapar and Bandar Bukit Raja, prompting the need for a coordinated and long-term solution.
