RM14.6b MGII proceeds moved to Development Fund with Dewan Rakyat approval

KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 4 — The Dewan Rakyat has approved transferring RM14.631 billion in MGII proceeds for the August–December 2025 period to the Development Fund, following a motion tabled by Deputy Finance Minister Lim Hui Ying.

The motion, required under the Government Funding Act 1983, authorises the Finance Ministry to redirect MGII proceeds to support the country’s development expenditure.

Lim said the Development Fund—created under the Development Funds Act 1966—receives financing through transfers from consolidated accounts, loan repayments, and other development-related revenue.

She added that Malaysian Government Securities, MGII, Treasury Bills, and foreign loans form the main sources of transfers from the consolidated loan account, noting that these shariah-compliant instruments were issued to strengthen Malaysia’s Islamic financial market.

Dewan Rakyat Speaker Dr Johari Abdul confirmed the motion passed with a majority vote.
