KUALA LUMPUR — The MyWellFair event highlighted the “rewirement” model, which promotes active participation among seniors even after leaving full-time employment.
Safe Community Association chairman Tan Sri Lee Lam Thye said retirement should not diminish the value seniors bring to society, noting that their accumulated expertise continues to benefit younger generations.
The conference, supported by NGOs, offered avenues for community engagement, mental health support and volunteer opportunities.
Third Age Media Association president Cheah Tuck Wing stated that mental health issues among the elderly are rising and that “rewirement” encourages meaningful roles that restore confidence and purpose.
