Malaysia to Lead ASEAN Diplomatic Efforts Through Special Foreign Ministers’ Meeting

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia will lead ASEAN diplomatic efforts by convening a Special Foreign Ministers’ Meeting in the near future, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said.

As ASEAN Chair, Anwar stressed the importance of collective action and dialogue in addressing regional security concerns.

He noted that discussions with Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh also focused on strengthening bilateral ties and resolving issues such as illegal fishing through cooperation and mutual respect.

Anwar expressed confidence that continued dialogue and existing mechanisms would enable ASEAN and its partners to address regional challenges in a calm and constructive manner.
