KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia will leverage its position as ASEAN Chair to promote peaceful solutions to regional conflicts, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said after speaking with US President Donald J. Trump.
The phone conversation addressed security concerns surrounding the Cambodia–Thailand border, as well as bilateral ties and global challenges of mutual interest.
Anwar stressed the importance of dialogue, diplomacy and ASEAN-led mechanisms in preventing further escalation.
He noted that Malaysia’s priority is to ensure civilian safety and regional stability, while encouraging all parties to engage constructively.
The Prime Minister also expressed appreciation for the United States’ continued engagement with ASEAN and its confidence in Malaysia’s leadership.
