BANGKOK: Malaysia’s figure skating athlete Fang Ze Zeng delivered a standout performance to secure the country’s first gold medal in the sport at the 2025 SEA Games, held at Imperial World Samrong in Samut Prakan.

Ze Zeng dominated the men’s free skating final with a composed and technically refined routine, earning a total of 157.22 points to outperform his closest rivals from the Philippines and host nation Thailand.

His performance impressed judges with its balance of technical execution and artistic expression, allowing him to take the top spot on the podium and contribute Malaysia’s 11th gold medal of the day.

Filipino skater Brandon James Baldoz claimed the silver medal with 137.98 points, while Thailand’s Aaron Kulvatunyou settled for bronze after scoring 128.39 points.

The victory highlighted Malaysia’s growing presence in regional figure skating and reflected the effectiveness of the athlete’s preparation and competitive maturity.
