Aznil Bidin added to Malaysia’s medal tally at the SEA Games in Thailand by winning silver in the men’s 65kg weightlifting category following a strong and disciplined showing.
He began the snatch event with a clean lift of 133kg, but was unable to build on that mark after failing his second and third attempts at higher weights.
Aznil responded well in the clean and jerk, lifting 167kg and 173kg in his first two attempts, keeping himself firmly in medal contention.
His final attempt at 175kg was unsuccessful, ultimately settling the podium positions and confirming silver for the Malaysian lifter.
The result reflected Aznil’s technical ability and composure under pressure, as he remained competitive throughout the contest.
