Tan’s influence extended beyond individual success as she played a pivotal role in Malaysia’s women’s armed duilian team. Partnering Loh Ying Ting and Pang Pui Yee, she helped the team secure gold with a polished performance that earned 9.730 points.

Reflecting on the achievement, Tan highlighted the importance of structured preparation, noting that the squad underwent intensive training, including a three-month stint in China, to fine-tune techniques and build competitive confidence.

The SEA Games triumph has boosted optimism within the Malaysian camp ahead of the 2027 edition, where the country will host the Games and aim for an even stronger showing.

Malaysia’s wushu campaign had earlier gained momentum when Loh Ying Ting, Mandy Cebelle Chen and Sydney Chin Sy Xuan captured gold in the women’s bare-handed duilian event.
