Policy Continuity Crucial to National Prosperity After Cabinet Reshuffle – Zahid

KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 17 — Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has emphasised that policy continuity and unity within the Cabinet are essential to ensuring Malaysia’s long-term prosperity, stability and peace following the recent Cabinet reshuffle.

He said the reshuffle announced by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim should be viewed as a strategic move to strengthen governance, enhance policy implementation and improve the government’s effectiveness in responding to the needs of the people and the country’s future.

According to Ahmad Zahid, maintaining consistent policy direction is particularly important as Malaysia navigates global economic uncertainties and increasingly complex development challenges.

“Policy continuity provides stability and confidence. It ensures that long-term plans can be executed effectively without disruption,” he said in a Facebook post.

He expressed confidence that the strengthened Cabinet lineup under the Madani Government would be able to move forward with renewed commitment and collective responsibility.

“God willing, with a reinforced Cabinet team and shared determination, we can continue to deliver our best for all Malaysians,” he added.

Ahmad Zahid described the Cabinet reshuffle as a measure aimed at improving governance structures and streamlining coordination across ministries, enabling policies to be implemented more efficiently and decisively.

Earlier, Prime Minister Anwar announced a Cabinet reshuffle involving 28 ministers and deputy ministers, including portfolio changes and new appointments intended to enhance administrative effectiveness.

Ahmad Zahid also congratulated Barisan Nasional representatives appointed to the Cabinet, including Datuk Seri Dr Noraini Ahmad as Minister of Plantation and Commodities, Datuk Seri Arthur Joseph Kurup as Minister of Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability, and Datuk Seri Johari Abdul Ghani as Minister of Investment, Trade and Industry.

He further extended his congratulations to Datuk Mohd Shahar Abdullah, appointed Deputy Minister of Economy; Datuk Mohamad Alamin, Deputy Minister of Entrepreneur and Cooperatives Development; and Datuk Seri Abdul Rahman, Deputy Minister of Energy Transition and Water Transformation.

At the same time, Ahmad Zahid expressed appreciation to ministers who had completed their tenure, noting that their contributions and legacies would remain an important foundation for the new leadership to build upon.

He stressed that unity within the Cabinet and continuity in policy direction would be critical in ensuring the Madani Government’s agenda remains on track and continues to deliver tangible benefits to the people.
