PUTRAJAYA: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has issued a firm reminder to newly appointed ministers not to rush into making decisions, particularly those involving policy matters and ministerial direction.
Government spokesperson Datuk Fahmi Fadzil said the reminder was conveyed during the Cabinet meeting on Wednesday, following the recent MADANI Cabinet reshuffle.
According to Fahmi, the Prime Minister stressed the importance of allowing time for new ministers to fully understand their respective ministries, including existing policies and administrative processes.
“He also urged new ministers to give civil servants and ministry officials the opportunity to present their views and assessments before any decisions are finalised,” Fahmi said.
He added that the approach is necessary as some ministers are still familiarising themselves with the government’s administrative system and Cabinet meeting mechanisms.
On Wednesday, seven ministers, including two newly appointed ones, were sworn in before Yang di-Pertuan Agong Sultan Ibrahim at Istana Negara, along with eight new deputy ministers.
The reshuffle also saw two ministers and one deputy minister dropped from the Cabinet lineup.
