RM1 Million Business Zakat from TNB Presented to MAIPs, Community Welfare Efforts Enhanced
KANGAR – The Perlis Islamic Religious and Malay Customs Council (MAIPs) has received RM1 million in Business Zakat from Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB), marking another step in the company’s ongoing efforts to uplift the asnaf community and contribute to social well-being in Perlis.
TNB Chief Network Distribution Officer, Ir. Mahathir Nor Ismail said the contribution reflects TNB’s firm commitment to fulfilling its social responsibility while supporting structured and sustainable community initiatives.
The handover was held in conjunction with the TNB Perlis Kayaking Programme, organised with the Perlis Department of Irrigation and Drainage (JPS) at Kampung Wai, Kuala Perlis, and graced by the Raja Muda of Perlis, Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Jamalullail, accompanied by the Raja Puan Muda of Perlis, Tuanku Dr. Hajah Lailatul Shahreen Akashah Khalil.
During the programme, assistance was extended to 80 selected asnaf beneficiaries, while Masjid Saidina Abu Bakar As-Siddiq received a RM2,000 contribution. The event also included a symbolic release of tilapia fish.
Mahathir noted that TNB will continue strengthening its societal engagement through programmes such as Baiti Jannati, Mesra Rakyat and the PINTAR school initiative involving SK Kampong Serdang from 2025 to 2027.
