LLM: Highway Users’ Interests Protected as Government Freezes Toll Rate Increases

PUTRAJAYA — The Malaysian Highway Authority (LLM) has reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding the interests of highway users following the government’s decision to retain current toll charges next year. The agency stressed that service quality, safety standards and infrastructure maintenance will remain at optimum levels.

LLM Director-General Datuk Sazali Harun said highway concessionaires will be consistently monitored to ensure full compliance with operational standards, including road maintenance and emergency response efficiency. He said these measures are crucial in ensuring highways remain safe, reliable and comfortable for motorists.

He also highlighted strengthened efforts in traffic management to reduce congestion and shorten travel duration, especially during peak periods. According to him, ensuring highways remain relevant and beneficial to the public is a core responsibility of LLM.

The announcement was made by Works Minister Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi, who said the government is prioritising public welfare by preventing toll hikes. Despite absorbing substantial financial implications, the decision ensures affordability for highway users.

Highways involved include GRANDSAGA, LATAR, NNKSB, Senai–Desaru Expressway, LPT2, SKVE, Sultan Abdul Halim Mu’adzam Shah Bridge, DUKE, MEX and the Butterworth Outer Ring Road.

Sazali added that the move aligns with the Prime Minister’s earlier assurance that Malaysians will continue to enjoy current toll rates without increments. Nearly one million motorists are expected to benefit daily.

He reiterated that LLM will continue working closely with the Works Ministry and concessionaires to maintain Malaysia’s highway network as a safe, efficient and high-quality transportation backbone.
