PETALING JAYA – Johor Plantations Group Berhad (JPG) has taken a decisive step in advancing its green energy ambitions by acquiring full control of JPG Greenergy Ventures Sdn Bhd (JPGGV), strengthening its foothold in Malaysia’s growing renewable and bioenergy landscape.
The move follows JPG’s completion of the purchase of the remaining 45 per cent stake previously held by MTC Orec Sdn Bhd, effectively transforming JPGGV into a wholly owned subsidiary.
JPG explained that the entity acts as the group’s primary renewable energy platform, spearheading initiatives such as biomethane production, biogas upgrading and the transformation of palm oil industry by-products into efficient low-carbon energy solutions.
“With complete ownership, JPG now has enhanced strategic clarity, greater operational autonomy and improved capability to accelerate development of its bioenergy portfolio,” the statement said.
The company added that the consolidation will enable stronger execution discipline, better capital management and seamless integration of renewable energy into JPG’s plantation operations.
Beyond commercial benefits, the move is closely aligned with Malaysia’s broader energy transition policies and national net-zero ambitions, while reinforcing JPG’s commitment towards sustainable value creation.
It said the group remains committed to exploring new renewable energy opportunities, strengthening technological innovation and ensuring long-term resilience across its operations.
Industry observers view the acquisition as a timely step, reflecting the increasing relevance of palm-based bioenergy solutions in global sustainable energy developments.
With this latest strategic move, Johor Plantations is poised to advance as a key contributor to the renewable energy sector while supporting greener industrial growth for Malaysia.
