Malaysia strengthens trade presence in Vietnam as MATRADE records RM295.7 million in sales

PETALING JAYA – Malaysia marked another significant success in regional trade engagement when the Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE) secured RM295.7 million in total recorded sales during its participation at the Vietnam Expo 2025 in Ho Chi Minh City.

The strong performance was driven by active business interactions throughout the event, including product showcases, structured business meetings and industry networking sessions involving Malaysian exhibitors and Vietnamese buyers, distributors and importers.

MATRADE said many Malaysian companies reported promising business leads, including opportunities for product distribution, OEM partnerships and expansion plans into Vietnam’s rapidly developing consumer market. Vietnamese buyers responded positively, citing competitiveness, innovation and affordability as key strengths of Malaysian products.

The outcome reflects Vietnam’s rising demand for modern lifestyle solutions and positions Malaysia as a reliable partner offering both quality and sustainability. MATRADE emphasised that participation in the expo also aligns with national economic priorities under the National Trade Master Plan (NTBp) and the New Industrial Master Plan 2030, which aim to diversify exports, elevate SME competitiveness and foster deeper regional trade integration.

The exhibition, themed “Solutions for the Modern Lifestyle,” successfully attracted strong attendance from professional buyers, wholesalers and industry stakeholders. It also formed part of efforts to empower halal entrepreneurs through initiatives under KUSKOP in partnership with SME Bank, opening broader opportunities for Malaysian halal products to penetrate the Vietnamese market.

Malaysia-Vietnam trade relations remain robust, with bilateral trade valued at RM83.12 billion in 2024, underscoring Vietnam’s continued position as one of Malaysia’s most strategic trade partners within ASEAN.

“The success achieved at Vietnam Expo 2025 reinforces Malaysia’s long-term commitment to strengthening economic cooperation, expanding strategic partnerships and ensuring Malaysian companies remain competitive in regional and global markets,” MATRADE said.

The agency reiterated its commitment to supporting Malaysian businesses in exploring Vietnam’s growing market potential while identifying new avenues for sustainable export growth.
