PETALING JAYA: Political developments within Perikatan Nasional (PN) intensified after Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu announced his resignation as Perak PN Chairman, becoming the fourth Bersatu leader to relinquish leadership roles within the coalition.
Ahmad Faizal, who also serves as Bersatu Vice President, said the resignation will take effect on 1 January 2026. He stated that his decision followed Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin’s resignation as both Perak PN Chairman and national PN Chairman, adding that he respects the chairman’s prerogative in leadership appointments.
He expressed gratitude to PN Perak leadership and members for their continuous support during his tenure.
Earlier, Muhyiddin, who had led PN since its establishment, formally stepped down and extended his appreciation to party and coalition leaders for their trust and cooperation.
His move triggered a series of resignations, including those of Johor PN Chairman Datuk Dr. Saharudin Jamal and PN Secretary-General and Selangor PN Chairman Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali.
The chain of resignations raises questions about PN’s future direction and leadership stability as Malaysia’s political dynamics continue to evolve.
