SERDANG — Malaysian police have confirmed that legal action against the suspect involved in the recent assault of a female fast-food worker in Serdang Raya will proceed despite the suspect currently being overseas. The case is scheduled to be brought before the Petaling Jaya Magistrates’ Court on January 8.
Serdang District Police Chief Assistant Commissioner Muhamad Farid Ahmad said investigations have been thoroughly conducted and submitted to the Public Prosecutor’s Office, which subsequently approved the prosecution. He reiterated that the authorities will not hesitate to enforce the law regardless of an individual’s location.
The incident, which captured widespread attention after it went viral online, allegedly originated from dissatisfaction related to TikTok business dealings. The argument escalated and eventually led to the assault involving seven individuals confronting the victim at her workplace. The 45-year-old woman suffered facial swelling and mouth injuries as a result of the attack.
The case is being investigated under Section 323 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt, a provision designed to deter acts of violence and protect public safety. Police emphasized that the case reflects broader concerns regarding aggressive behavior stemming from online or business disputes.
During a press briefing, Muhamad Farid stated that violence of any kind is unacceptable and will be met with firm enforcement. He also reminded the public that Malaysia’s legal system provides appropriate channels for dispute resolution, and taking matters into one’s own hands only jeopardizes personal freedom and public harmony.
The victim has since received medical care and is recovering. Police have assured that her safety remains a priority and that surveillance over the case continues.
Authorities also warned the public against spreading speculation or unfounded claims regarding the case, stressing that doing so may impact ongoing legal proceedings. They urged Malaysians to allow the justice system to run its course responsibly and fairly.
