TAIPING: Police have launched an investigation after an elderly woman was discovered floating dead near the shore of Taiping Lake Gardens earlier today.
Emergency responders retrieved the body following a distress call received shortly after 9am, with assistance from the Taiping Fire and Rescue team.
Taiping police chief ACP Mohamad Nasir Ismail confirmed that the deceased was a local senior citizen found fully clothed, with her identification card also recovered.
A preliminary examination found no visible injuries, and the body has been sent to Hospital Taiping for a post-mortem.
Police are now gathering statements from witnesses and contacting family members. Authorities have appealed to anyone with relevant information to come forward.
