Putra Mosque to Host Gema Syukur 2026, A Two-Day Spiritual Programme Welcoming the New Year

PUTRAJAYA — The iconic Putra Mosque in Putrajaya will host the Gema Syukur 2026 programme for two days beginning tomorrow, with a comprehensive series of religious and community activities organised by the Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (JAKIM).

The programme aims to foster gratitude, strengthen communal bonds and promote social responsibility, especially as the nation approaches the new year. JAKIM Director-General Datuk Sirajuddin Suhaimee said the initiative continues the success of Gema Syukur 2025, which received encouraging participation from the public, including youths.

He emphasised that the growing interest demonstrates society’s recognition of spiritual engagement as an important aspect of emotional resilience and community harmony in today’s fast-changing world. The programme is organised together with 13 agencies under the Prime Minister’s Department (Religious Affairs) as well as MAPIM, MyFundAction and Du’at Al-Falah, supported by Putrajaya Corporation.

Activities planned throughout the event include Yasin recitation, doa selamat, a knowledge-sharing podcast session, year-beginning prayer ceremonies, Qiamullail, a Subuh Forum and a community breakfast. These activities encourage participants to strengthen their relationship with God while fostering unity and compassion.

Beyond religious activities, social aid remains a key element. One hundred underprivileged recipients will receive cash assistance from MAIWP, while food aid baskets will be distributed by MyFundAction as part of the MADANI social support effort. Organisers hope such gestures bring relief and instil optimism as families prepare to welcome the new year.

To enhance participant experience, organisers will provide complimentary meals with a variety of dishes and distribute appreciation gifts to selected attendees. The public from Putrajaya, Kuala Lumpur and nearby regions are encouraged to participate from 3 pm tomorrow until 9 am on January 1.

With Gema Syukur 2026, JAKIM aims not only to create a spiritual gathering but also a platform for unity, gratitude and humanity — values that continue strengthening Malaysia’s societal fabric.
