KUCHING: The first day of 2026 saw a dramatic rescue in Kuching when a Lexus LC500 sports convertible crashed along Jalan Stutong near Saradise, leaving its driver injured.
The Fire and Rescue Department said the emergency call came in at 3.16am and a team from Tabuan Jaya station was immediately dispatched to the location.
The crash involved only one car and one male victim. While he was not pinned by the wreckage, firefighters struggled initially due to the cramped space inside the damaged vehicle.
He was eventually removed using a stretcher and handed over to health authorities for treatment.
The operation involved six firefighters and one rescue truck, and ended once the situation was brought under control.
