KUCHING: The first morning of 2026 turned dramatic in Kuching when a Lexus LC500 sports convertible crashed along Jalan Stutong near Saradise, leaving its driver injured.
The Fire and Rescue Department received an emergency alert at about 3.16am and dispatched a rescue team from the Tabuan Jaya station.
The crash involved only one car and a male driver. While he was not pinned within the wreckage, the cramped space in the badly damaged vehicle posed challenges to rescuers.
Firefighters managed to safely extricate him using a stretcher before he was handed over to health authorities for medical attention.
Six firefighters and one rescue truck were involved, and the operation ended once the scene was stabilised.
