GAC Reports Major Overseas Growth, Sets Ambitious 250,000-Unit Export Target for 2026

GAC has wrapped up 2025 with solid international business results, revealing that its overseas vehicle exports exceeded 130,000 units for the year. The figure represents an impressive year-on-year increase of approximately 45 percent and reinforces the company’s accelerating global expansion efforts.

The company’s international journey has evolved rapidly within a relatively short timeframe. In 2023, GAC recorded 45,000 overseas sales, marking its first breakthrough in the global market. This was followed by another surge in 2024 when exports rose to 90,000 units. Over the span of two years, the company’s international sales have nearly tripled, positioning GAC among the top eight independent Chinese automotive exporters.

Behind the impressive sales figures is GAC’s systematic approach to establishing a strong international ecosystem. As the first state-owned automaker to venture abroad with a full-chain integrated energy ecosystem, GAC has leveraged technology, product strength and service capability to support its expansion strategy.

At the 2025 Bangkok International Motor Show, GAC announced the enhancement of its global blueprint through the “One GAC 2.0” strategy. The plan focuses on creating a unified global identity while allowing flexible localization to suit individual market demands. It outlines coordinated objectives, strengthened brand positioning and clearly defined implementation measures.

Under this framework, targeted regional programmes such as “Thailand Action”, “Brazil Action” and “Australia Action” have been deployed. These initiatives revolve around five main pillars — product innovation, market network development, customer service, intelligent manufacturing and integrated mobility and energy ecosystem solutions. Through this model, GAC emphasises operating “in local and for local”, embedding itself deeply within local market ecosystems.

Throughout 2025, GAC introduced five new models to international markets and entered 16 new countries, including several in Europe and Latin America. The company now operates across 86 countries and regions, supported by a rapidly expanding network of 630 outlets after the addition of more than 280 facilities during the year.

In addition, KD manufacturing projects in Indonesia and Malaysia have successfully begun operations, while the European KD programme continues to progress. Five overseas production plants are currently operational, significantly strengthening production capacity abroad.

Looking ahead, GAC has stated that 2026 will play a decisive role in scaling both production and quality performance overseas. The company has set an export target of 250,000 vehicles, describing the objective as its “second growth curve”. If achieved, this milestone is expected to elevate GAC as one of the key benchmarks representing the internationalisation of Chinese automotive brands.
