Umno Youth leader Dr Akmal Salleh has vowed to continue championing the ummah unity agenda despite mounting criticism from political opponents.
He said external pressure would not force Umno Youth to retreat, stressing that the movement represents grassroots concerns rather than personal ambition.
Responding to criticism from Melaka DAP leaders, Dr Akmal argued that calls for unity among Malay Muslims should not be viewed as a political threat.
He also defended the relevance of Muafakat Nasional, saying fears surrounding its revival were politically motivated.
Dr Akmal’s earlier challenge for DAP to step down from the Melaka state government has further intensified debate over party alignments within the unity government framework.
