Focus on Performance, Not Race, Says PMKL on Hannah Yeoh’s Appointment

KUALA LUMPUR — The appointment of Hannah Yeoh as Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Federal Territories) should be evaluated on merit and performance, rather than racial considerations, according to the Kuala Lumpur Community Welfare Movement (PMKL).

Its chairman, Hussen Zulkarai, said public discourse should prioritise how effectively key urban issues in Kuala Lumpur are addressed.

He said persistent challenges such as traffic congestion, parking availability, public housing and city cleanliness must remain the central focus of the ministry’s efforts.

Hussen added that constructive support from all quarters is necessary to ensure the Federal Territories administration can deliver meaningful improvements for city residents.

PMKL expressed hope that Hannah would be given sufficient space to carry out her responsibilities and demonstrate leadership through tangible outcomes.
