KUALA LUMPUR: Following the blue discoloration of Sungai Perak, the Cabinet has suspended operations at MCRE Resources and Rahman Hydraulic Tin for three weeks pending further investigation.
Minister Datuk Seri Johari Abdul Ghani said preliminary assessments showed that discharge from the MCRE site had a similar bluish tone to the affected river water. Radiation levels from leaching waste also exceeded environmental safety thresholds.
He said authorities are now analysing chemical usage and cross-checking the details submitted in the company’s environmental documentation.
