KUALA LUMPUR: Johor UMNO Youth has challenged the Democratic Action Party (DAP) to bring the long-running issue of Unified Examination Certificate (UEC) recognition to judicial review, arguing that only a court ruling can put an end to years of political controversy.
Johor UMNO Youth chief Noor Azleen Ambros said the challenge was issued after DAP once again turned education and national unity into what he described as seasonal political tools.
According to him, repeated calls for UEC recognition have been deliberately politicised, particularly ahead of elections, without any serious attempt to resolve the matter through proper legal channels.
“If DAP truly believes UEC aligns with the Federal Constitution and national education policies, then it should have the courage to bring the matter before the courts,” he said in a statement today.
Noor Azleen added that a judicial review would provide legal clarity, end political speculation, and allow the government to refocus on strengthening Malaysia’s education system.
