Malaysia Plans Broader Participation in Global Sumud Flotilla 2.0 Mission

PUTRAJAYA — The Global Sumud Flotilla (GSF) 2.0 is being developed as a larger and more inclusive humanitarian mission, with Malaysia reaffirming its support to ensure aid delivery to Gaza, according to Zulkifli Hasan.

He said the mission is intended not only to challenge the naval blockade but also to convey a clear message to the international community about the humanitarian conditions in Gaza.

Zulkifli said Malaysia is reviewing possible forms of cooperation for the mission, noting that Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim has expressed full backing for the initiative.

Beyond humanitarian supplies, he said the mission also aims to deploy professionals such as medical personnel and educators to support longer-term recovery and rebuilding efforts.

Referring to last year’s flotilla, Zulkifli said although hundreds of international activists, including Malaysians, participated, the vessels were intercepted and the participants were detained before being repatriated.

He stressed that the GSF initiative remains an important avenue for sustaining international awareness of the humanitarian crisis in Gaza and the need for continued global engagement.
