PN Condemns Attack on Rafizi Ramli’s Son, Calls It a Threat to Democracy

PETALING JAYA — Perikatan Nasional (PN) has strongly condemned the recent assault on the 12-year-old son of former economy minister Rafizi Ramli, describing it as a serious threat to Malaysia’s democratic values.

Opposition chief whip Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan criticised the incident as “completely unacceptable” after the boy was reportedly dragged and stabbed with a syringe by an unknown assailant at a shopping mall in Putrajaya.

Takiyuddin, who is also the Kota Bharu MP, said PN noted Rafizi’s claim that the attack was meant as a warning for him to stop voicing out on certain issues.

“If this is true, it marks a worrying trend of thuggish political tactics that threatens the democratic landscape of our country,” he said in a statement.

He stressed that political differences should never lead to violence or threats, especially when children are involved.

“The attacker must be brought to justice, and firm legal action must be taken as a clear message that violence—particularly against children—has no place in Malaysia,” he added.

PN also expressed its solidarity with Rafizi and his family, extending prayers for the full recovery of his son.

Takiyuddin urged the public not to be influenced by speculation or provocations that could divide society in the wake of the attack.

“The peace and stability of our country is a shared responsibility,” he said.
