KUALA LUMPUR: Pandan Member of Parliament Rafizi Ramli has described the recent assault on his 12-year-old son as part of a targeted threat, citing ongoing intimidation directed at his family.
Speaking to the media at Parliament here today, Rafizi said he was unable to disclose full details as investigations are still underway, but had already shared preliminary information in an earlier media statement.
“I’ve received many messages of support, and I want to thank everyone for their concern. My family is in good condition. Alhamdulillah, both my wife and son are healthy,” he said.
However, he confirmed that his family, particularly his wife, received threatening messages, which he believes are linked to the attack. He has since reported the matter to the police.
“This was a threat. Messages have been continuously sent. I have informed the police,” he said.
Rafizi added that his son must now undergo repeated blood tests over the next six months to screen for any potential viruses or harmful substances that may have been injected during the attack.
“My son is recovering well, but we still need to assess his condition thoroughly. Blood tests will be ongoing,” he explained.
He revealed that his wife received the first threatening message at 1.12 am, which read: ‘Be quiet, If You continue AIDS!’, followed by another message at 11.02 am the next day saying: ‘You continue AIDS’ — this time accompanied by a syringe emoji.
Rafizi also suggested that the incident may be linked to a recent whistleblower meeting he attended, which involved sensitive information.
“The last thing I want to share, and this is just my opinion, is that this may be an attempt to silence me. Last week, a group of whistleblowers approached me with information about a scandal. I have since passed the details to the police,” he said.
Police investigations into the incident and the threats are ongoing, Rafizi confirmed.
The attack on Rafizi Ramli’s 12-year-old son took place around 2 pm yesterday at a shopping mall in Putrajaya.
According to the Pandan MP, CCTV footage revealed that two men dressed in black and wearing full-face helmets had followed his wife’s car on a motorcycle before the incident.
The boy was reportedly dragged and stabbed with a syringe before being rushed to the hospital for immediate treatment and medical evaluation.
