KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 18 — His Majesty Seri Paduka Baginda Yang di-Pertuan Agong Sultan Ibrahim has decreed on the government to implement a comprehensive anti-bullying campaign to curb the issue from as early as primary school.
His Majesty cautioned that if bullying is not addressed from a young age, it risks producing a generation that lacks respect and compassion for others.
“Bullying not only harms the mental and emotional well-being of victims but can also lead to various tragedies. Children must be taught from a young age about this matter, and through such campaigns, they can be guided to understand the values of mutual respect and discipline,” His Majesty decreed today (Aug 18) in a Facebook posting.
Sultan Ibrahim further noted that the Penal Code (Amendment) 2025 and the Criminal Procedure Code (Amendment) 2025 to address bullying reflect the government’s firm commitment to tackling the issue.
His Majesty also emphasized that the efforts require cross-ministerial and inter-agency collaboration to ensure bullying crimes are dealt with comprehensively.
Earlier today, His Majesty granted an audience to Communications Minister Datuk Ahmad Fahmi Fadzil at Istana Negara.
During the audience, Ahmad Fahmi presented the ministry’s commitment and ongoing measures in addressing bullying, as well as briefed His Majesty on the preparations for the 2025 National Day celebrations.
