Ewon Allocates RM400,000 for Sekolah Menengah St Michael and SJKC Yue Min Penampang

PENAMPANG: Member of Parliament for Penampang, Datuk Ewon Benedick, announced an allocation of RM400,000 for Sekolah Menengah St Michael and Sekolah Jenis Kebangsaan Cina (SJKC) Yue Min Penampang, aimed at improving and upgrading school facilities.

At Sekolah Menengah St Michael, Ewon — who is also the Minister of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives — handed over an approval for RM200,000 from the Federal Ministry of Finance to fund the construction of a roof for the school’s parking area.

Ewon explained that the allocation was approved after he submitted the school’s request to the Second Finance Minister, Senator Datuk Seri Amir Hamzah Azizan.

“This funding complements the existing concrete parking area, which was previously built using allocations from my Parliamentary fund,” he said.

Ewon presented an allocation of RM200,000 from the Ministry of Finance to the Chairman of the Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) of SJK (C) Yue Min Penampang, Victor Voo.

During the brief visit, Ewon also inspected the old school building’s classrooms, which require structural repairs, and presented contributions to a group of SM St Michael students who will be participating in the ISCEP Programme in Korea.

Meanwhile, at SJKC Yue Min, he delivered an approval for another RM200,000 from the Federal Ministry of Finance to upgrade the school’s parking area, which often floods during the rainy season due to overflow from a nearby drain.

He also inspected the internal road within the school grounds, which requires resurfacing.

Ewon reaffirmed his commitment to supporting schools in the Penampang area in their efforts to improve infrastructure and facilities.

“I am committed to being part of the solution in addressing the development needs of schools in this constituency,” he stated.
