KUALA LUMPUR,  — Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has urged Malaysians to celebrate the 68th National Day by appreciating the contributions of athletes and artists who bring glory to the country at the global stage.

He said that the athletes and artists were symbols of patriotism that reflect bravery, determination and undivided love for the country.

“This fighting spirit is the true translation of independence, united in diversity, working together to honour Malaysia. Every cheer in the stadiums, every artistic creation and every heartbeat of the united people, all reveal the true meaning of independence.

“In conjunction with the National Month, let us continue to show our love for the country with the promise that we will together build a Malaysia MADANI that is more progressive, resilient and respected in the eyes of the world. Merdeka! Merdeka! Merdeka!,” he posted on Facebook tonight.
