TAWAU: The Information Chief of the Sabah Gagasan Rakyat Party (Gagasan Rakyat), Datuk Nizam Abu Bakar Titingan, stressed that what is being called the ‘new wave’ of the Heritage Party (WARISAN) is merely a wave of disappointment from a group of individuals who are disappointed and have lost their way.
He said the actions of several former leaders, including former Pitas Deputy Head of the People’s Ideas Division, Datuk Harun Ismail; Pantai Manis People’s Ideas Information Head, Amri Abu Bakar; and Tanjung Kapor LDP Division Head, Datuk Peter Chin Kee Yong, in joining Warisan were not based on struggle, but rather due to a thirst for position and personal interests.
“The uprising they are calling for is just a wave of a small group of disappointed individuals who want to plunder positions and property belonging to Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS).
“Some of them have asked to be candidates and threatened to leave the party if they were not given the opportunity,” he said in a statement yesterday.
According to him, the people of Sabah are familiar with the attitude of a few individuals who previously only rode on the work of others while with GRS, but began to change direction after they were no longer given a position.
“They joined Warisan not because of the people’s struggle, but because they were disappointed not to get a position.”
“This is the old politics that the people are fed up with, the politics of greed, intimidation and personal vendetta,” he said.
He said GRS under the leadership of Datuk Seri Panglima Hajiji Haji Noor would not bow to such politics, but instead would remain focused on the state’s development and stability agenda.
“We don’t need those who are only loyal when they have a position but turn their backs when their personal wishes are not followed.”
“If this is called the ‘new wave’ of Warisan, it is actually a wave of disappointment, a wave of rejection and a wave of people who have lost their way,” he said.
